On-Site Data Destruction in San Diego
SES Secure E-Waste Solutions brings data destruction to your door. Our mobile data destruction unit comes to your San Diego location, and hard drives, SSDs and mobile devices are shredded or crushed under your supervision, with a certificate of destruction for your records.
Why Destroy Data On-Site?
Full control and transparency
You watch the process from start to finish. There is no hand-off of intact media and no transport step where a drive could go missing.
Compliance you can verify
Regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR govern how sensitive data is destroyed. Seeing destruction happen and keeping the certificate gives auditors a clear record.
Immediate proof
Each device is cataloged as it is destroyed, so the certificate of destruction matches what you saw go through the shredder.
How On-Site Data Destruction Works
- 1
Assessment and planning
Before destruction day, we confirm which devices need to be destroyed, from hard drives, SSDs and mobile devices to servers and other data-bearing equipment, so the right tools and team arrive at your site.
- 2
Arrival and inventory
Our trained, background-checked team arrives with specialized vehicles and equipment. Each device is labeled and inventoried before destruction begins, so you know exactly which devices were processed.
- 3
Shredding or crushing on-site
Depending on the media and your security needs, industrial-grade shredders or crushers reduce drives and devices to small fragments. It happens in front of you, so you see each device destroyed.
- 4
Verification and documentation
Each device is cataloged as it is destroyed. You receive a certificate of destruction and a report listing the destroyed equipment with the time and method used.
- 5
Responsible recycling
After destruction, we collect the debris and take it to our secure recycling facility, where metals, plastics and other materials are recycled or disposed of according to applicable regulations.

Standards and Regulations
SES aligns its data destruction processes with NIST 800-88 media sanitization guidelines and DoD 5220.22-M, and supports organizations working under HIPAA/HITECH, FACTA, Sarbanes-Oxley and GDPR. Our team members are background checked and drug tested.
On-Site or Off-Site?
On-site destruction suits organizations that cannot let intact media leave the building, or that want to witness every drive being destroyed. If you would rather not host the work, SES can collect devices with chain-of-custody documentation and destroy them off-site through hard drive shredding or secure data destruction. Equipment that may be reused or remarketed can be sanitized with NIST 800-88 wiping instead. For defense and controlled items, see ITAR data destruction.
Scheduling is flexible: weekly or monthly on-site service, or one-time and annual large-scale destruction events. We serve organizations across San Diego County.
On-Site Data Destruction FAQ
What is on-site data destruction?
On-site data destruction means your drives and devices are destroyed at your own location. SES's mobile data destruction unit comes to you, destruction is performed under your supervision, and data-bearing devices do not need to be transported.
What can SES destroy on-site?
Hard disk drives, solid-state drives, smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices, server drives and other data-bearing equipment. Share your inventory when you schedule so the right equipment is brought to your site.
Can we watch the destruction?
Yes. On-site destruction happens in front of you, so you can watch each device go through the shredder or crusher and confirm it was destroyed.
Do we get a certificate of destruction?
Yes. SES catalogs each device as it is destroyed and provides a certificate of destruction, along with a report listing the destroyed equipment, the time and the method used.
Is on-site destruction a one-time service or recurring?
Both. Some clients schedule weekly or monthly on-site service, while others book one-time or annual large-scale destruction events.
What is the difference between on-site and off-site data destruction?
With on-site service, media is destroyed at your location before anything leaves. With off-site service, SES collects devices with chain-of-custody documentation and destroys them at its facility. Both options include a certificate of destruction.
